The story

Michael Morrissey had the expertise to help local business owners sell for what their companies are worth, and nothing else: no name, no domain, no product, no pipeline. We helped him name the business, pick the domain, and turn an early idea for an exit readiness assessment into a live AI-powered lead-gen tool.

The Exit Strategy Coach Scorecard rates a business out of 60 across six value drivers, then returns a report: the score, a driver-by-driver breakdown, and the three ranked areas costing the most value at sale. Michael gets a qualified prospect who has just read, in specific terms, why they need him.

Results: Two high-end coaching clients signed within seven days of the scorecard going live, for a practice that hadn’t had a name a week earlier. Concept to live product took one day, and the business is on a path from zero revenue to six figures in year one.

Case study details

How a coach with no business became a coach with a lead engine in a day.

The ask

Michael Morrissey came to us with a question, not a company: how do I generate leads for a business I’m just starting?

He had the expertise and the seed of an idea for an exit readiness assessment, but no name, domain, product, or way to reach anyone.

So the work started before the build. We helped him name the business, choose the domain, and shape the idea into a free scorecard that could carry the practice: a useful answer for sellers, a qualified conversation for Michael.

What we built

The Exit Strategy Coach Scorecard is a three-minute assessment that scores a business out of 60 across six value drivers: the things that move a sale price.

The funnel

  • Before any questions, the opening step captures name, email, phone, business, industry, annual revenue range, and timeline to sell, so Michael knows who he’s talking to and how close they are to market.
  • A short context step (founding year, ownership structure, family involvement) isn’t scored; it tailors the report.
  • Six scored categories follow: Financial Strength, Owner Dependency, Revenue Quality, Systems & Operations, Growth & Market Position, and Team & Workforce Stability. Every question is a plain-English statement rated not true, somewhat true, or fully true. No jargon, no homework.

The report

  • An instant score out of 60 with a named readiness tier and a plain reading of what it means.
  • A score for each of the six drivers, showing strengths and gaps at a glance.
  • The three highest-priority areas to improve, ranked: the substance a seller came for.
  • An introduction to Michael and a booking CTA, right where the reader has just seen their gaps.

Every report lives at its own durable URL. Owners revisit it and re-check themselves as they close gaps, keeping the brand in front of them long after the three minutes.

Why it converts

The report is honest first, including about what’s working, and that credibility makes the next step feel like help, not a pitch.

When Michael’s introduction appears, the reader has just seen a ranked list of what’s costing them value at sale. The strategy session is the obvious way to close those gaps, not a generic consultation.

It also travels: Michael can share it with his network or wider local business audiences, and it qualifies leads before he picks up the phone.

A week to revenue

Seven days after the scorecard went live, Michael had signed two high-end coaching clients, for a practice that hadn’t had a name the week before.

That’s the number that matters. Going from concept to live product in a day, naming and positioning included, is table stakes; speed only counts if what you ship earns. The scorecard keeps generating leads and building his reputation as the local authority on exit readiness, carrying the business from zero revenue toward six figures in its first year.

That’s the shape of this work now: the engagement that names a business can also ship the machine that fills its pipeline, and prove it within the month.
