The story

James Van Praagh is one of the most recognized spiritual mediums working today, but after two years of sliding revenue, his business leaned on discounts and on James personally selling. We served as his full marketing team: strategy, ads, creative, copy, web and WooCommerce development, Keap systems, and analytics, with weekly sprint reviews.

Most of the work ran through his course store, the School of Mystical Arts: one-click upsells, conversion-rate optimization, rebuilt sales pages, and a WordPress platform tuned for speed and security. An annual launch calendar and evergreen funnels meant revenue no longer depended on any single push.

Results: A 262% lift in average monthly sales in the first six months, reversing a two-year decline, with 66% more store traffic, 161% more store conversions, average order value up about 20%, and several times more site traffic from video.

Case study details

What a full-service engagement looked like across the store, the funnels, the ads, and the calendar.

The brief

James Van Praagh is one of the most recognized spiritual mediums working today, with three decades of books, television, and live events. But his business had slid for two straight years, and what revenue remained leaned on James personally driving sales and on steep discounts.

The brief was to reverse the trend and change what it rested on:

  • Grow revenue without more of James’s time and energy.
  • Reduce dependence on deep discounts.
  • Build assets that hold value on their own: search rankings, a YouTube library, evergreen funnels.
  • Shift a meaningful share of sales to always-on campaigns.
  • Grow the email database substantially.
The engagement

This was a full-team retainer, not a project. We were the whole marketing department:

  • Strategic leadership: the big-picture plan and the decisions under it.
  • Ads management: Meta and Google.
  • Creative design: branded ad templates and campaign creative.
  • Copywriting: emails, landing pages, and ads.
  • Web development: WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • eCommerce & marketing systems: dev ops plus Keap marketing-technology strategy.
  • Reporting & analysis: attribution and performance through SegMetrics.
  • Account project management: communication, budgets, and timelines.
  • Weekly sprint reviews: a standing 30-minute meeting on progress, obstacles, and optimizations.

It started with a deep analysis of past performance: what had driven revenue, what had stopped, and what could be recovered.

The store

Most of the revenue work happened in the School of Mystical Arts, James’s WooCommerce course store, deeply integrated with Keap.

  • One-click upsells in the purchase flow, lifting order value without adding traffic.
  • Conversion-rate optimization across the store, from product pages to checkout.
  • UI and UX streamlining for a shorter, clearer path from interest to enrollment.
  • Course and sales pages rebuilt around video sales letters and a single obvious next step.
  • Email, newsletter, and CRM management in Keap, with the store and CRM finally in sync.
  • WordPress performance and security: page-speed optimization and hardening across the platform.
Rhythm and results

The other half of the fix was rhythm. We planned an annual launch calendar so revenue arrived on schedule, not whenever James could be persuaded to promote something, and built evergreen lead generation like the free Spiritual Archetype quiz to keep the funnel full between launches.

In the first six months, average monthly sales rose 262% against the prior year, reversing two years of decline. Store traffic rose 66%, store conversions 161%, and average order value climbed about 20%, so the growth came from a healthier mix, not deeper discounting. Video became a real acquisition channel, driving several times more site traffic than before.
